FBMSA stands for Federation of Bangladesh Medical Societies of Australia. Established in 2016 after decade long dream of an Australia wide single platform for All Bangladeshi Doctors in Australia.

Each state and territory has their own Bangladesh Medical Societies . Representatives from all state/territory committees then form the FBMSA.

NT: BMSNT Bangladesh Medical Society of Northern Territory

SA: BAMSSA Bangladesh Medical Society of South Australia

Each state and territory independently select/elect their representatives to FBMSA. From all the representatives, then the existing FBMSA EC elects next EC committee. The board consists of President, Senior Vice President, Vice president, General Secretary, Joint Secretary, Treasurer, Education Secretary and 9 EC members.

In a big country like Australia, all functional organisations have state bodies who then unite to form a federal pivotal committee. Similarly, FBMSA unites all Bangladesh Medical Societies and their members living across this vast land under single umbrella.

FBMSA forms a strong voice for all Bangladeshi Doctors to communicate with Australian state and Federal government, Australian Medical Council (AMC), AHPRA, AMA. FBMSA has applied to Bangladesh Government to recognise Bangladeshi Doctors with Australian medical qualification like FRACGP. FBMSA advocates Bangladesh government and Universities to advance medical education and training. FBMSA raises fund to donate in Bangladesh during natural disaster and calamities.

Each year FBMSA organises an annual scientific seminar and AGM in different states and territories to exchange knowledge, share experiences, uphold our cultural background, and get together. FBMSA liaise among states/territories EC committees to provide educational Webinar for primary physicians, GP specialists and AMC Candidates.

These are few examples of FBMSA activities that otherwise individual state and territory wound find difficult or impossible to provide.

As a member of your state and territory Bangladesh Medical Society, you are already a part of FBMSA. Should you want to play more active role, you need to contact your state/territory President/GS/EC Committees. More and more Bangladeshi Doctors are showing interests and playing vital roles to make FBMSA more functional, efficient, and stronger as our federal representative. There are numbers of exciting projects are underway and this is great time to be involved.

General practitioners are the highest numbers of Bangladeshi Doctors practicing in Australia. FBMSA values their contribution and gives utmost importance to improve their causes. FBMSA organises regular webinar that helps GP trainees and GP Specialists. FBMSA liaises with local Australian Government for concerns, suggestions. FBMSA has applied to BMDC to recognise FRACGP so that our GP Specialists can work, teach, research in Bangladesh at their level of expertise.

FBMSA like all other Bangladesh Medical Societies give highest priority to help AMC candidates to pass exams and get into Australian Health care system. FBMSA lobbies to AHPRA and Department of Health for IMG rights. FBMSA helps to liaise AMC educational activities, Information days, Job search, CV writing, interview skill workshops from different states and territories.
